The company "Soroca Granite and Gravel Quarry" is engaged in the operation of a large granite quarry located north of the town of Soroca, in the northeast direction from the locality of Cosăuți. The granite deposit from the quarry is part of the shield on the vast East European Fennosarmatian platform.
Until 1970, the quarry manually extracted stone for house construction and landscaping.
The stone from Cosăuți is widely used by architects in Moldova, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine to accentuate the nobility, uniqueness, and sophistication of their creations.
In 1970, the granite extraction quarry was launched.
Soroca Granite and Gravel Quarry is the only quarry in Moldova where it is possible to extract granite rock, as a high-quality mineral raw material, from which aggregates (hard rock) are produced, used in the construction of roads of categories I-III, railroad embankments, concrete products manufacturing, drainage, gabions, and in other cases where quality aggregates are required for professionals.
On May 30, 1995, the enterprise was transformed into a joint-stock company, and in the year 2000, it was privatized through the Moldova Stock Exchange.
