The Red Cross Society of Moldova (hereinafter referred to as RCSM) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and apolitical organization operating on the basis of the Geneva Conventions of 1949, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova No. 234/1992 dated 01.12.1992, the law no. 139 from 10.05.2001 on the "Red Cross Society of Moldova," the Red Cross Emblems Act, and the Statutes of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Currently, the RCSM is in an intense developmental phase and, thanks to the Society's partners, we are engaged in several humanitarian projects. In their implementation, we are seeking new talents.
Job Title: Public Communication Specialist (Communication Officer)
Duration: Fixed-term, with the possibility of extension;
Workplace: Republic of Moldova, Chișinău, Centru district;
Experience in the field: minimum 1 year (experience within an NGO would be an advantage)
Objective and Status of the Role:
Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating information and communication strategies that ensure a favorable image of the Moldova Red Cross Society, its role within the community, its activities/programs, implementing communication and media activities, which will ultimately strengthen the image of the National Society, leading to increased donations and funding for ongoing programs.
Main Responsibilities:
Developing the communication strategy in accordance with internal communication principles in line with current legislation, as well as at the International Movement level;
Actively engaging and participating in organizing local, regional, national events by ensuring the visibility of implemented project activities (photos, PR materials, visibility elements, etc.), drafting informative and communication materials regarding the organization's mission (brochures, leaflets, etc.);
Preparing press releases, ensuring the production of articles (written/video) and publishing them on the organization's website, Facebook page, and other public web sources;
Establishing contacts with journalists and creating/updating a journalist database;
Identifying, monitoring funding opportunities (national and international grant calls), planning, organizing fundraising events;
Initiating the development of communication materials that will contribute to the increased visibility and strengthening of the MRCS image (all types of MRCS activities, such as project management, logistics, human resources, etc.);
Assisting the staff of the Moldova Red Cross Society in initiating and developing relevant informative materials;
Ensuring relations with communication focal points within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, with particular emphasis on establishing relationships with the communication team at the IFRC Europe regional office and other partner organizations at the national level;
Serving as the spokesperson for the Moldova Red very Society in the media, including on audiovisual broadcasts, radio, written and digital press;
Monitoring media coverage, impact, and audience numbers;
Developing periodic reports as needed on media trends and received coverage, including upon request;
Monitoring feedback from internal and external communications, including online, identifying key issues, and providing guidance on appropriate responses;
Proposing initiatives to increase the visibility of the MRCS and organizing relevant activities;
Performing other tasks necessary for the proper management of communication activities at the Society level, including in urgent cases, taking into account the specifics of humanitarian activity, within the limits of the role's responsibilities.
Skills:
PC operation: Word, Excel, Power Point;
photo/video editing, advanced Internet browsing skills;
experience with PR materials development tools (infographics, video spots, newsletters, etc.);
advanced communication level in Romanian, Russian, and English, knowledge of other international languages is an advantage;
