Litera is the oldest private publishing house registered in the Republic of Moldova (May 3, 1989). Over the course of nearly 35 years, it has published around 15,000 book titles, with a total circulation of over 80 million copies.

The Litera Editorial Group includes two publishing houses (one in Romania and the other in the Republic of Moldova)

Litera has been awarded the "Trademark" gold medal in 2009 and the grand Mercury of gold prize of the Trademark competition in 2010, 2011, and its general director has been decorated with the highest orders and state medals of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, including the Star of Romania in the rank of Officer and the Order of the Republic.
